KleenMic sits between your physical microphone and the app you use for calls. Once those two connections are set up, your calling app receives the microphone audio processed by KleenMic.

Before you start

You’ll need an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later and the microphone you want to use. That can be your Mac’s built-in microphone or an external microphone.

Download KleenMic for Mac. The trial includes every audio feature for three days from first launch. No account or credit card is needed.

1. Install KleenMic

Open the downloaded installer and follow its instructions. When KleenMic asks for microphone access, allow it so the app can process your microphone input.

Open KleenMic and find its controls in the menu bar. This is where you choose your input microphone, enable noise removal, and select a performance mode.

2. Choose your microphone

In KleenMic, select the physical microphone you want to speak into. For a built-in Mac microphone, the name may appear as MacBook Pro Microphone. An external microphone will appear under its own device name.

Turn on Noise removal. You can start with Auto, then explore Quality or Efficient mode after checking how your setup sounds.

Two places, two choices. Choose your physical microphone inside KleenMic. Choose KleenMic Microphone inside your calling app.

3. Connect your calling app

Open the audio settings in Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, or the calling app you use. Select KleenMic Microphone as its microphone input. Repeat this in each app where you want to use KleenMic.

Before joining a call, try live Test Mode with headphones. Speak a short sentence and listen to the processed microphone audio. Our pre-call sound check walks through what to listen for.

If your calling app still sounds unchanged, check its selected microphone first. It needs to use KleenMic Microphone rather than the physical microphone directly.
